“Providing healthcare is about passion for people, we do this because we understand that when people are sick, they are at their most vulnerable. When the whole country, in fact the whole world, is sick, the compassion that drove us into nursing, drives us to serve.” - Khensani Silawu, Aurum Clinician.
Protecting healthcare workers
Aurum Innova has been working to procure and deliver much needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to healthcare staff in the frontlines of the COVID-19 response in Gauteng and the North West province.
Mass screening and testing
Following Health Minister Zweli Mkhize's announcement of mass community screening and testing for COVID-19, Aurum staff have expanded their partnership with the health departments in Gauteng and the North West province to include door to door screening and testing.
COVID-19 screening at roadblocks
Aurum and CHAPS clinicians and counsellors in the North West and Gauteng have been deployed at various roadblocks in joint operations with the Department of Health, police and traffic officers, to screen motorists for the Coronavirus.
Contact tracing
Aurum’s team that traces people who have defaulted on their HIV and/or TB treatment, have been working to trace people that have come into contact with those who tested positive for COVID-19. After the tracers make contact telephonically, clinicians visit people in their homes to conduct screening and if need be testing for COVID-19.
Doctors on call
A team of Aurum doctors is using their expertise to advise clinicians at the coalface of the COVID-19 pandemic. They are providing potentially life-saving guidance through the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) clinician’s hotline.
